I don't have any panorama pictures so I tried one with just a photo that I had on my computer. It was taken on our trip to Argentina but I think we were actually in Brazil when it was taken. Maybe....I actually can't remember for sure.

I don't really like the white borders and I somehow got one photo's border off the edge of the photo but on the whole, I feel good about it.

Andie - I love it! I haven't tried this one yet because I couldn't find a panorama. You've inspired me to try it with a "regular" shot.

I probably made the small snapshots too tall and thin, but here's my try at it.

Oh I do like that ... I think that having the last image landscape instead of portrait is perfect in this one.
Its a nice little touch :)

Me too Wendy. I kept on expecting him to stick his tongue out, or wink an eye....come to think of it, bearing in mind the subject matter of the photo, maybe he should be wearing a red hat with white fur around it:D

PS. Loved your version of the tut.

Can someone PLEEEEZZZEE tell me how to get rid of the outlines of the roof from my first selection. I didn't notice them until I was all finished and now I can't get rid of them. I tried erasing them, selecting them, cloning over them, painting over them, choosing the background layer, each individual layer....
I wonder if I should flatten all of it and save it as a new photo and try cloning the sky over it that way??? Would that work?

Andie, it looks like your selection was feathered when you first made it and not feathered when you removed it or moved.

Andie, it looks as if you got your layers mixed up when you were working on it -- the outline in the center looks like a stroke layer by itself or maybe on the wrong layer. You might just start over.

I find that it is far better to fill in the template 'shapes' with black or white and reduce the opacity.........then you can see better where you want to position them.

The blossoms in that photo ARE actually in full bloom! The trees are huge. They probably lasted the remainder of the week and high winds and rain brought them down more. The viewing season this year was quite short here--it was odd.
I do have another shot that is coveted by most persons stationed here - it has a fuller tree in the background -

I wonder if Matt had an inkling of what he would start when he posted this tutorial?? Judy - I love your Tetons photo. I haven't been there in awhile but it appears wonderfully unchabged. Is that old barn still there? I always thought that if I were a horse, I'd love to have that barn as my home - what a great view!!
I redid my picture of the Tower of London and put it in my gallery. This time I forgot to recolor my sky until after I had made all the mini pictures. :o I guess it looks OK, but it still isn't what I had in mind. I think it is tricky to do these multi-step projects in the right order. I sometimes get all finished and realize I want to make a change that will entail redoing everything. Does anyone else do that? Or is there a solution - a way to go back a redo a step in the middle of the project? Just wondering...

Anne:
The tower of London looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kayser
June 7th, 2006, 10:15 PM
Andie- It does look good!
On the problem of having to redo everything from scratch, I often duplicate layers that I'm making unalterable changes to so that I could go back to the "original" if necessary. On this one, I didn't delete my original shapes as instructed in the tutorial, just turned off the eyeball. That way, I could go back to them and move them around and start from that point rather than having to do EVERYTHING again.
I also don't flatten or merge my layers very often- if I need to do an overall effect I do the "stamp visible" CTRL SHIFT ALT E (or hold down the ALT key while selecting the merge visible command from the layers menu) so that I can play around with a merged copy of the layers but still have all my original layers as separate unharmed layers.
I'm sure more experienced users have more efficient methods but thought I would share mine in case they helped.

Scans are tough. They can have noise that's hard to overcome without softening the image.
You can try a light noise reduction... Filter - Noise - Reduce Noise.

Thanks for the tip.
I used the reduce noise, then used my blur tool to smooth it out a bit.
Didnt like the results so I just darken the back ground.
I'll just have to try again.
Thanks again

Jo, Wendy, Kev, Mel and Nancy, thanks for the kind comments. That plant has no common name and is the scraggliest, untidy looking plant in the bush with points on the leaves () - the botanical name is Hakea amplexicaulis and it flowers between July and October.
