Anyone else finding that elements 3 runs slower then elements 2 or is it just my two year old computer needing a few update?

yes, it's slower here too....compared to pe1 but not too too bad...larger files definietly bog me down....but not in pe1 so much. Windoze version pe3 is a resource hog.

Think that adobe might sort it out with some updates?

I have had PSE versions 1, 2 and 3. I have upped my RAM to 1 GB in order to run version 3. I find that it is easier and quicker to do some things in version 2 on my 4 year old computer and I use PSE 3 on my new computer for some of the new features not available in version 2.
I don't use the Organizer at all because it slows everything down way too much.
Sorry to be so negative but I really hope Adobe makes it more efficient and I have heard quite a few people express the same concerns. :(

I'm glad to see this thread. I thought it was me and my computer. It's really slow especially working with large files.

I'm on a Mac, so things are different a little. PSE3 loads slower, but once it's loaded, it's about the same speed as PSE2, except for the Filter Gallery. This, I must say, is really slow.

Glad I'm not the only one. Never had any problems using PSE2 but now.3.0 tells me it can"t flatten image because of a program error. It doesn't tell what error. It also can't save a file. Sometimes I manage to make a copy and save that one.People at Adobe suggest to throw eveything of my computer but PSE 3.0  I certainly will not do that, I'm glad I can still use 2.0

Betty,
Have you tried deleting the prefs file:
To do that close down Elements then click on the start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (If you are a Mac user Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

Betty,
I would be inclined to uninstall it ... and do a search to make sure you got all of the files deleted.
Then start all over again with installing a fresh version ... making sure that all virus software was disabled.
Its a pain ... :(

Yes ,I did uninstall it all, I mean everything of Elements and I reinstalled from hard disc on C station as recommended. My computer is only used for pictures and some private things and has no connection to the internet. Can it still has virusses than? Didn't think so.This morning I had a large file with some 25 layers, I couldn't flatten image but I managed to merge down som elayers and than merge visible so that did the job at last

Betty,
Its beginning to sound like it may be a memory issue ...
It could be worth posting details of your set up Mac/Windows, OS, Memory size etc etc.
