Okay - I gave this one a shot after going to the baseball game today. First I had to create the panorama from 3 shots I took with my daughter's camera. (I didn't want to lug mine around). Then I used Matt's tutorial and finally added a few extra touches.
Busch Stadium is the new home of the St. Louis Cardinals.

What a perfect shot to try this with! I tried a vertical one, and it didn't turn out nearly so nicely...
Gorgeous day!

Why thank you Robyn and Val! I was not all that happy with the color in the pictures but my daughter's camera did an okay job. Making the panorama was easy. I took 3 shots with it in mind and simply used the Photomerge Panorama under File - New - Panorama Photomerger on the menu. I only had to tweak it slightly. It did a wonderful job on it's own.

I like all the added touches- the frame, the text....
I found an old panorama I'm experimenting with because I really wanted to try this tutorial out.

Thanks Linda, Kay and Terry.
Well - we got there 2 hours early so we could look the new stadium over before the game. The teams didn't take batting practice today because the game went well past midnight last night so the fans were not drawn into the stadium as usual. Also this was a Cardinal / Cubs game and that is a very big rivalry here in the midwest so there was a lot going on outside the stadium - rallies and such. When the game started - there was not an empty seat in the place. Sadly - the Cardinals lost today.:( (More like got their butts kicked)
Hey Kay - I was thinking Disney! ;) (maybe Cinderella's castle)

Nancy, that is a GREAT layout!!! I remember seeing Matt's pano tutorial on Photoshop TV some time ago. I was thrilled to see it again. I think when I try it I will actually tweak the floating frames so they are a bit off too -- in other words, capture that spot of the background and then actually rotate that frame. Right now the frames line up to the background. I think it would look cool to have the frame look more random on top of the background too. Does that make sense? I dont know....low on caffiene this afternoon....

Nancy, what a great rendition of Matt's tutorial - and to think it was not a pano to start with, your are a very talented Lady.

Oh, you mean I didn't need to take one of my husband's old pics out of the frame at 1230 last night?? :o I'll try the Disney idea... Here's my attempt in the meantime:

Well.... I think I would take Hawaii over Disney any day. That is really beautiful! The mat compliments the sunset very nicely. Very nice job.

Kay, Nancy,
I love both your versions. Mine isn't quite so stunning...just a typical pastoral English scene that I took on vacation last year, but it is the only panorama in my collection of photos. & I wanted to try out the tutorial.

The nice thing about this technique is that it can jazz up a boring image and also if you've had problems matching up the panorama using photomerge (as I did, you could see all the joins in the sky) it's a great way of making the joins less obvious.

I think that's wonderful. What a beautiful scene! The nice thing is like Matt said - if you don't have a panorama then crop a picture to the panorama shape to fake it.

Wendy,
We went out walking in Dorset along the coast. I turned my back to the sea & took a series of five photos (without the aid of my tripod which I'd left behind so I had to eyeball the edges!). This picture was just three of them, but I felt it was a very boring image. I've been looking for something to do with it for nearly a year and this tutorial seemed ideal.

That's good to hear. I really look forward to when judging is over so we can see the entries. I suspect there will be some breathtaking ones.

Nancy, I for one can't wait until the end of the month also!! I feel like that's all I've been doing (or trying to do!!) Once the time is up, I can do no more. Of course if I were FINSHED, I could quit worrying about it also!! I have spent all day sitting here accomplishing next to nothing!! Yesterday I whipped up one I loved in a couple of hours!!

It was causing me too much stress trying to come up with something that doesn't come naturally to me. I gave up - wasn't worth it. I think that's why I now feel more relaxed and am starting to feel creative again. It's sort of like my theory on the lottery - if I'm meant to win I'll do it with $1 - no need to spend $20.;)

Well yesterday I managed to get another one done and it wasn't too painful. I guess it's just like when I used to paint. You have good days and bad days and I just need to learn to walk away when things aren't going well. I was going to work on something else today and while walking the dogs ideas just started happening for the Pet challenge, so I might give it a go! Maybe today's a 'good' day. :D It seems the less pressure you put on yourself, the easier the flow comes (and I'm determined!)
So.........it's off to open elements!
