I have been using PSE 3 Organizer, and when I go to start PSE 4 Organizer, I get the message below.
My question is...if I allow PSE 4 to convert my catalog, will I then not be able to use it in PSE 3. Will it become the same catalog for both versions of PSE or do I have to do something else to keep it working in both versions. I hope it's not saying that there will be TWO different Catalogs and that I would have to use version 4 in the future to have a current catalog.

I would imagine that once your catalogue is converted for PSE4, it won't be possible to open it in PSE3. This is my understanding.
Do you have a reason to use both version of PSE ? Grant's tools, I would imagine.

I think Ray is correct-A catalog converted to Version 4 can not be read in Version 3. However, if you look at the message, your original catalog will still be saved; however you said you did not want two catalogs.
I don't know to get around this.

Thanks for your responses Ray & Ward.. I'm just not sure yet if I really want to stick with PSE 4 totally, and yes Grants tools would be a reason. For the time being I'll just stick with Version 3's Organizer.
Don't know what happened to the message image I posted....it's sure not there now, but it was earlier. At least I saw it in my preview. Oh, Well..

It seems that a whole bunch of images went to Forum 2.0 then, as there are no longer images in the thread on Pixentral Clickable Thumbnails that everyone was trying out yesterday....and I'm noticing that the page never seem to load completely.
Something strange is going on..don't you think.

I had not noticed the images missing from the Pixentral Clickable thread. Wonder if we broke the system? There is a limit on file size for attachments so maybe all the thumbnails gave the system a headache?
Edit-just clicked that thread and the images seem to be there. Maybe what was wrong has settled down.

Hi ...
Sometimes when you add thumbnails into a thread it can take longer to load the thumbnails than the text ... then for a short while it does look like the images are missing :) Usually happens when, for some reason, a site is running slow .. (as this one seems to be today)

I believe your right Wendy, that seems to be what happened. Guess I'll just have to be more patient in the future.
WARD or RAY, another Organizer question. Is the Organizer in PSE 4 any better than PSE 3, or are they pretty much the same. Does 4 have more features that would make it worth while using it rather that ver. 3.

Dorrie ...
I'm a Mac user so I don't know a lot about the Organiser but I'm sure I read somewhere that PSE4 fixed some of the organiser problems that existed in PSE3 :)

I have both PSE3 and PSE4 on my machine and use the Organizer with both. The PSE3 catalog is named "My catalog 3" and PSE4 catalog is named "My catalog.psa". Don't know how they got the names. After I installed PSE4, I re-installed PSE3 to use Grants tools and just followed the prompts to get catalog for both.

Hey Lee,
Do you then put your photos in both Organizers so that both Catalogs have the same photos or do you just let them be different according to which Elements verison you are working in.
And if you have TWO different Catalogs, can you then choose to view whichever one of them you want from either version of Elements that you might be using?

I do the same thing - PSE3, PSE4 and two separate catalogs. But they aren't compatible so you can't use PSE3 with the PSE4 organizer or vice versa. I also have the two photo downloaders and get to choose whether to put it in PSE3 or PSE4. Sounds confusing but it really isn't - but then I'm not very organized :)
