day one problem also

all is well until I try nto use the background eraser. then I just get a clunk sound and at the top where the eraser icon should be is a 9 squared grid that says reference point location. None of the tools will respond.!
I never have had any problems with the course up until now. Was getting along very well and able to do all the lessons. What is going on????

Hi Merribee ...

When Elements does strange things then sometimes deleteing the prefs file sorts it out:

To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (Mac users Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

Do let us know if that sorts it out :)
