While installing a printer driver as well as getting a message that (I kernel.exe.) could not be copied to the destination folder I also got a message saying the following.
"Make sure you have the appropriate privilages to copy files to this folder"
Anyone know what does this mean!! I think it's to do with colour management...What are "privilages" and where from and how do you get them..

Hi Malcolm ...
I'm a Mac user so it may not be the same ... but I suspect that its asking if you are authorised to copy to that file.
Sometime computers have users with several different level of access and I think that its probably to do with that ...
Hopefully one of the Windows users will be along soon and will be able to help :)

Sounds like you're using a Windows machine and you aren't set up as a Computer Administrator. You'll need to get whoever is the Administrator to log on and do it for you.

Hi TonyW. i am afraid you have lost me as I don't understand the reply. I am just an ordinary guy at home who has tried installing software supplied by Epson and had the outlined problem. i don't know anything about administrators and logging on etc.
I would have thought if epson supply files on a piece of software (driver) intended to be used with their product that all components on that software should load for the customer......Or perhaps not I have no idea.....
I am at present using an old machine with win98se installed and in a week or two I should have a computer with winxp media edition installed......Does this make a difference.....

Hi Malcolm ...
Its probably just the way your ccomputer is set up ... ordinary home computers are set up with different levels of access too. One example being to stop children making changes and messing things up :)

Malcolm: I'm not familiar with the set up for Windows 98se. With XP however you can set it up so you have different users with different privileges so. like Wendy said, you can prevent kids etc from downloading stuff and messing things up. Believe me they can.
One thought is that the driver is intended for XP and might not work with 98se which may be why it doesn't load. Quite a lot of stuff out there now won't work with older versions of Windows. Have fun with your new computer and XP and if you get stuck ask away!

TonyW. I am hoping it is case of having an out dated machine. Can't install my copy of Elements either...Aghhh frustrating..:D
Strange thing is not once did my machine crash while I was installing and doing test prints but as soon as I do a bit of web surfing like reading the posts on here it crashes regularly when I follow links.......
I don't know how important or not having sRGB as an option is as my old printer (Epson) driver has it. But so far no sRGB option can I find in the new epson printer driver.

PSE3 or PSE4 wont run on Windows 98, as far as I remember. It's not a supported operating system for PSE3 and 4.
