A curious thing...On a cleanly formated system with xp pro, the organizer for Elements 3 works fine, but the organizer for Elements 4 continues to snap shut on me faster than a rabid pitbull. I've read the various solutions on this and other sites to no avail.
So, can anyone recommend a good organizer/catalog program to take the place of the one in Elements. I recently downloaded the ACDSee
temp version to try out, and something called IMATCH looks interesting. Opinions on these and other programs would be appreciated. Ken

I have Irfanview with the thumbnails but don't use it as PSE 3 does work well for me. It is free software that you might look at to see if it will meet your needs.

Picasa (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1752155,00.asp) is pretty good and you can't beat the price. You can get it here (http://picasa.google.com/download/index.html).

I use MyAlbumPro (http://pmeindre.free.fr/) as my imaging Swiss Army knife - basically, it's ACDSee freeware. A few tuts to get started are here (http://www.graficalicus.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index&catid=&topic=6).

In a nutshell, you can organize catalogs ("albums") of images, sort by keywords you add, sort by date, file size, file type, create screensavers & slideshows, generate quick contact sheets, HTML pages, blah blah blah.

For free, you can't go wrong.

As a viewer/sorter/renamer, I prefer XnView (http://www.xnview.com) over Irfanview. It's got a few more bells & whistles and is fast & easy. And free - :D
