I have been using both Elements and Photo Album since v 1.0 of each program. I became very attached to the Album program. When I imported the PhotoAlbum catalog into Elements 3 it did some kind of a conversion.

Has the full functionality of PhotoAlbum been incorporated into Elements 3? i.e can I discontinue using PhotoAlbum in favor of Elements 3?

It would have been nice for there to be a special upgrade path for users of PhotoAlbum that now have to abandon it.

I am using Elements 2 and Album 2 side by side and I am concerned that upgrading to Elements 3 will break the 'special bond' between the two programs.

I really like the way Album works and if I have to give that up then Elements 3 is a non-starter for me.

So far, it seems that the 2 programs have been pretty well integrated. I havn't noticed any problems so far. If this continues, I will regretfully abandon Photo Album as it has been somewhat enhanced as it was integrated into Elements.

It has what I think is a new feature which is "watched folders". I was sent a photo by email which I copied into a folder which is already cataloged in the Album part of Elements. When I started Elements, it recognized there was a new picture in that "watched" folder and asked me if I wanted to move it into the catalog. I like that feature.

I like the set up of the two separate programs. If I want to view, I go to Album - if I want to edit, I go to Elements. I like that I can send an image I am viewing in Album straight to Elements if I want/need to edit it.

Also, my wife uses Album to view and catalogue our family photos and she has no interest at all in editing. However, with the two programs merged she will go into the editor first in order to find the catalogue and I'm not happy with that.

Go to the main directory where you installed PSE 3 and you will find the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe. Create a shortcut to the file on your desktop and your back to a single click of the mouse http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, I have not yet installed V3 (or even purchased it for that matter!) as I am waiting to see how it all pans out on this forum.
